Dyed and undyed Merino wool, undyed Blue Faced Leicester wool, Corriedale wool, undyed silk carrier rods, undyed eri silk fibres, pillow flax fibre. Wet felted.
This medium abstract piece is a balanced blend of warm and cold colours, with a prevalence of greens and accents of blues, greys, yellows and browns. It is an abstract landscape, that suggests the concept of going upwards. It was inspired by memories of hills and mountains hiking, the idea of ascending in a physical and emotional sense, through different kinds of physical and spiritual terrain. Maybe steps on winding log stairs on a steep slope are suggested by the horizontal lay out of the wool fibres and of shiny silk carrier rod pieces.
Silk fibres and flax fibres shine softly in this warm mind space, suggesting radiance, as in a sunny summer day.
This piece is medium-sized (around 49 x 39 cm, unmounted) and with its joyful natural colours will be a tasteful addition in any space.
